Naast het handelen in flessen whisky is het ook mogelijk om vaten of deelvaten whisky te (ver)kopen via THE SWEX. Terwijl de whisky nog aan het rijpen is op vat is deze verhandelbaar als belegging. Eenheden nog niet gebottelde whisky worden toekomstige flessen genoemd. U koopt in dat geval het recht op een toekomstige fles whisky. De prijs van deze toekomstige flessen is inclusief alle kosten en de uiteindelijke botteling in een fysieke fles. Beleggen in nog niet gebottelde whisky is interessant, omdat de prijs van een jong vat whisky zich over de jaren gunstig kan ontwikkelen.
